About Jissen

Jissen Women's Educational Institute consists of Jissen Women's University, Junior College, High School, and Junior High School. The forerunners of the present institute were Jissen Girls' School and Jissen Girls' Polytechnic, founded by Utako Shimoda in 1899, with the aim of promoting spiritual and economic independence among women. In 1999, we celebrated our 100th anniversary, and took advantage of this to further improve our educational facilities, and at the same time to promote the campus life of our students.

Osakaue Campus, Hino, Tokyo. Higher education is required to develop people who can contribute to maintaining the vitality and affluence of society. To meet this aim, we are constantly reviewing and revamping our curriculum, and are also striving to meet the demands of our students by including courses leading to the acquisition of various specialist qualifications.

In addition, our Junior College has been restructured into four departments designed to better meet the demands of society in the 21st century. The curriculum concentrates on language communication to promote the internationalization of Japan on the one hand, and imparts current knowledge on nutrition, ecology, and welfare to cope with the rapidly graying society on the other hand.
