The Department of Food and Health Sciences is divided into the
Registered Dietician Major and the Food Sciences Major.
Courses in these majors cover education and in-depth research into
food science, which is the basis of life science. The main aim of the
Registered Dietician Major is to educate
students who can cooperate with doctors in hospitals and clinics and
contribute in helping patients recover from illnesses by improving
their nutrition. Students who successfully
complete the program are awarded a Dietician's license which qualifies
them to take the national examination for Registered Dietician. With
the Food Sciences Major, the main aim is to provide students
with the skills they will need to find employment in the
food-manufacturing or food-service industries.
Furthermore, by obtaining credits in specified
subjects, students in both courses of
study can satisfy the
qualification requirements for Food Hygiene Inspector and
Food Hygiene Manager.
