“Exploring Cambodia with Cambodian International Students” Cultural Exchange Event Held (Jan. 9)
Jan 09,2026
On January 9, 2026, a cultural exchange event titled “Exploring Cambodia with Cambodian International Students” was held at the Global Lounge on the Shibuya Campus, organized by Cambodian international students.
While Cambodia is widely known for the World Heritage site Angkor Wat, this event focused not only on Cambodia as a tourist destination but also on the everyday lives of local people and the country’s rich traditional culture, offering participants a more personal and relatable perspective on Cambodia.
On the day of the event, participants enjoyed traditional Cambodian snacks while learning about local games, food culture, traditional dances and the meanings behind their choreography, as well as popular spots currently trending among young people in Cambodia. The presentations were delivered in Japanese, using photos and videos to enhance understanding.
During the Q&A session following the presentations, students planning to participate in internships in Cambodia asked questions about important points to keep in mind while staying in the country and about local transportation. The Cambodian students responded thoughtfully, sharing insights based on their own experiences.
After the event, participants exchanged contact information and continued their conversations, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for interaction and connection that transcended nationalities and backgrounds.
The university will continue to provide opportunities like this to encourage interaction between international students and domestic students, fostering mutual understanding and global awareness.
